The 167th Committee on Nanoprobe Technology was established in December 1997 (chairman: Seizo Morita, Professor, Osaka University) as one of the industry-academia cooperative research committees set up by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science, and the 167th Committee on Nanoprobe Technology was established in December 1997 (chairman: Professor Seizo Morita, Osaka University). For the past 26 years (ending March 2017), we have been working toward the systematic development of basic and applied scanning probe microscopy (SPM) technology.
Purpose of establishment
Purpose of Establishment With the miniaturization of materials and devices, science and technology have entered the nanoscale era, and the 21st century is expected to see the development of new nanotechnology that combines physics, chemistry, and biology. This committee was established with the aim of systematically developing basic and applied technology (nanoprobe technology) for scanning probe microscopy (SPM), which is becoming essential for future nanoscale materials analysis and development. Through the presentation and discussion of advanced research on nanoprobe technology, we will conduct interdisciplinary discussions and exchanges in close cooperation with researchers from different fields, and aim to further advance this field, including industry.
